Following earlier rumors of a possible arrest which turned out to be a hoax, street artist Banksy has turned up in Bristol with a new piece on the side of a building at the Albion Dockyard in Hanover Place. Based on Dutch artist Johannes Vermeer’s masterwork Girl with a Pearl Earring, Banksy has titled his latest work of art The Girl with the Pierced Eardrum, due to the bright yellow alarm box he painted around. The artist also made a tongue-in-cheek reference to the burger van opposite the piece, with the caption “Gallery cafe open Monday to Sunday 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.”

The Girl with the Pierced Eardrum follows Banksy’s recent Art Buff  and Birds of a Feather pieces, the former having already been vandalized with a giant penis.
