Airbnb offers a look inside their new Portland headquarters, which was designed by a team led by Aaron Taylor Harvey and Rachael Yu, who spent one month researching and getting to know the Portland team members, in order to create a working environment influenced by its staff. It features something for everyone, from those who prefer working in a bright office, to those that prefer darker environments.
The headquarters is the company’s first Customer Experience (CX) center, and is built to allow teams of 12-15 employees a “landing/standing” space each, while they are free to move around the entire office when on the phone with customers. As they have in their other offices, the building integrates exact reproductions of apartment listings from around the world. To furnish, the space includes locally produced items, many of which were made by members of the Airbnb team.
