Where form meets function

As one of the most recognizable names in the industry, photographer Jonathan Mannion has an enviable client roster that would make just about anyone jealous. He earned his stripes by shooting the Jay Z Reasonable Doubt cover, and since then has shot portraits for the likes of Eminem, The Game, Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, Kanye West, OutKast and countless others. His body of work is so iconic that he’s able to persuade artists to discard their inhibitions for the sake of art, like he did for DMX’s Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood shoot. Cool Hunting recently caught up with Mannion to discuss how photography has changed course with the implementation of digital cameras and his involvement in the Don’t Steal Possible community workshop initiative which aims to “spark creative passions among New Yorkers.”
