Swedish footwear label Eytys is set to branch out into luggage, with founders Max Schiller and Jonathan Hirschfeld launching a new line of waterproof bags dubbed Void. Presenting a backpack, tote bag and document holder priced from $100-300, the bags come as a direct result of the pressures that Stockholm’s commute put on the designers. As Schiller puts it:

“As I commute by boat between my home on an island in the Stockholm archipelago and the city, I need bags that are functional and water-resistant without making me look as though I’m geared up to go on a kayak hike. It’s always been a ‘mission impossible’ to find a bag that is water-repellent and sleek, so we decided to develop our own line. It’s very high-tech— [the factory] usually make inflatable life rafts, kayaks, and army tents, but they didn’t have the right kind of material, so we had to develop our own fabric. It’s polyester-coated with matte black polyurethane and it’s completely water- and airtight.”

Keep an eye out for Void when it launches March 26 at colette, Opening Ceremony, Storm, LN-CC and Très Bien, and for more from Eytys take a look at their latest batch of Mother low top sneakers.
