Our 14th Highsnobiety Mixtape is headed by London’s DJ Khalil. As the director of the city’s most flourishing hip-hop night, Livin’ Proof, it goes without saying DJ Khalil has an encyclopedic knowledge of hip hop, both old and new. Born in 2007, Livin’ Proof is a DJ collective consisting of DJ Khalil and three others, all who are at the forefront of the hip-hop scene in the English capital, and the first to bring acts such as A$AP Rocky and Danny Brown to the UK. In addition, they’ve hosted nights with the likes of Hudson Mohawke, Flatbush Zombies, Action Bronson, Jay Electronica, Frank Ocean and plenty more.

With that in mind, DJ Khalil’s mix manages to stay a step above other hip-hop mixes, as he fleshes out a weightier mix by including genres and tracks notably deriving inspiration from hip-hop. It features stalwarts such as Ab-Soul and Kendrick Lamar, and DJ Khalil punctuates the mix with Kanye West‘s new banger, “All Day,” halfway through. The mix evolves into reflecting Livin’ Proof’s hometown with South London producers such as Actress and Burial making appearances, as well as Grime’s newest poster boy, Novelist. Now you can download the mix for safekeeping here.
