“Taste, sincerity, humor” – newcomer École de Pensée describe the three pillars forming the basis of their work. Born last year, the Montreal menswear label proudly launch their first line, a back-to-basics Fall/Winter 2015 collection with a light-hearted feel. Looking beyond the obvious, École de Pensée find their inspiration in alternative cultures and artistic mediums, both of which inform their designs as well as this off-beat lookbook. The refreshing shots reveal a brand with a sense of humour: their model pulling playful poses captured by a raw and imperfect photographic style. Taking a ‘what you see is what you get’ attitude, the label draw on a particularly French Canadian vibe.
The clothing itself carries a similar laid-back feel. A selection of linen and cotton blazers avoid an ultra cool slim fit, opting instead for a classic fuller cut, while light knitwear and shirting from top Japanese and Portuguese mills stick to the same no-fuss tone. Most certainly getting our vote, we’ll be keeping a close eye on this promising newcomer.
