Google have commissioned in-demand British designer Thomas Heatherwick to work on its new $1.5 billion London headquarters. After rejecting plans from London-based agency AHMM, the search engine has called upon Heatherwick who has seen a rise in popularity in recent years thanks to projects like the Olympic cauldron for the 2012 London games. Currently designing Google’s new Californian headquarters, Heatherwick’s plans for the new offices include translucent canopies that control the climate within. The project is yet to receive a target completion date but watch the video below outlining both Google and Heatherwick’s ideas.
