Idris Elba is set to star in Beasts of No Nation, the first original feature film from Netflix. Releasing this fall, the film is headed up by Cary Fukunaga of True Detective fame on October 16, and revolves around the narrative of a child soldier torn from his family during a civil war in an African nation. This debut will mark Netflix’s first foray into full-length movies, making Netflix a key competitor to big production studios. The new Netflix model entails a guaranteed paycheck for producers, regardless of ticket sales, while the film can still be eligible to receive awards. Watch for the film to hit Netflix on October 16, while the first of four Adam Sandler films named The Ridiculous Six is purportedly slated for a December 11 release.

This news follows the announcement of their Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon followup.
