Prayers‘ booming electronic shouting rap performance at Rochambeau’s Spring/Summer 2016 show was a stark contrast to what walked down the runway. Sky blue and blush pink in thin jackets and loose pants had a sheen to them that resembled silk, and moved with gentle airiness as the models strutted. Beige and white dominated other parts of the palette, which gradually moved into darker navies, grays and blacks toward the end.
The New York label’s seasonal collection is on-trend, with familiar silhouettes and styling choices that would greatly please retailers. Bomber jackets with elongated shirts, jogger pants and sandals with mid top socks are abundant in the range — designers Laurence Chandler and Joshua Cooper seem to know what sells. But just when you thought you’ve seen it all already, Rochambeau Spring 2016 will surprise you with elements like a pair of leather shorts that manage to look light and preppy rather than the pair worn by an HBA-loving street goth.
Nike supplied all of the shoes at the show. The leather Air Max 1s and Air Max 90s in the same blues, pinks and whites as the clothes elevated the lineup, which also included a sprinkling of silver metallic bags.
