Earlier in the month, Fox News host Geraldo Rivera claimed that “hip-hop has done more damage to young African Americans in recent years than racism,” after taking issue with Kendrick Lamar’s performance of “Alright” at the BET Awards. It’s astounding considering the overwhelming positivity of the track, but completely unsurprising given Fox’s track record. After a Black Lives Matter conference in Cleveland, the police arrested and detained a 14-year-old boy in an act of police brutality. As people were demanding his release an officer pepper sprayed the crowd, yet despite the heightened tension the crowds rallied together and broke out into song, singing the chorus of “Alright” in unison until the boy was released.

Just watch it and try not to get goosebumps. Afterwards, read our exploration of Fox News’s accusations in Why Kendrick Lamar Has Done More for Young African Americans than Fox News Ever Will.
