Where the runway meets the street

“Why are the retailers that dress us starting to feed us and top up our drinks as well?” Business of Fashion ask. The likes of Burberry, Gucci, Ralph Lauren, and Club Monaco have recently added food and drink experiences to their flagship locations – not to mention Dover Street Market’s longstanding Rose Bakery – in a hope to increase their customers’ browsing time and (in theory) increase sales.

It’s true that as e-commerce grows larger and larger, brick-and-mortar stores are having to go to greater lengths to provide immersive experiences and attract shoppers – which is no bad thing, in our books. We can certainly attest that the excellent coffee at Berlin’s Voo Store – situated just round the corner from Highsnobiety’s European HQ – has led us to more than a few purchases ourselves.
