Back in 1966, astronaut Michael Collins unfortunately misplaced a Swedish-made Hasselblad camera during a spacewalk. The gadget was never rediscovered and has since been dubbed the first Swedish satellite. In turn, Sneakersnstuff’s new collaborative effort with adidas Originals was inspired by that particular trip. Titled the “Swedish Satellite” pack, the collection features three popular adidas silhouettes: the Stan Smith, Tubular Runner and Superstar.
The Stan Smith “Spacesuit,” which is of course a play on the spacesuits of that era, features a metallic silver leather upper, as the shoes are then accompanied with an attachable Velcro Stan Smith patch. This sneaker release will take place on September 9.
Next up is the Tubular Runner “Starry.” This take was inspired by a bed of illuminating stars. Featuring an all-black look, the kicks note construction from mesh and suede, with a release occurring on September 16.
Pegged as the last drop, the Superstar “Camera” will be arriving on September 19. The black tumbled leather utilized on the sneaks is a reference to the leather that in turn covered the NASA-used cameras from the early days of space exploration.
Again, the “Swedish Satellite” pack is a Sneakersnstuff exclusive, with each drop taking place on a differing day.
Three Stripes fans should also check out NIGO’s latest collab on the Superstar.
