When sneaker designers turn to the world’s cities as inspiration for new designs, you can safely bet that they’ll go with somewhere like New York or Berlin rather than Doha or Singapore. But PUMA have eschewed urban clichés with their latest release – a collaboration with Dubai-based communications platform, Sole DXB, whose home Emirate is embodied in footwear form.
The Sole DXB x Puma Disc “Asphalt Blk” is a nod to Dubai’s Sheikh Zayed Road – a massive, multi-lane 75mph highway that cuts through the city.
Its ashphalt colorway is indicative of the rapid growth of the desert metropolis and its consistently shifting terrain. The upper is comprised of a textured black felt with black leather detailing, and features an embossed Sole DXB logo on the heel plate of the iconic PUMA Disc.
The sneaker will be unveiled on November 20 and retails for $230.
