American maker Red Wing Heritage just announced an interesting new partnership with Danish chop shop Wrenchmonkees. The two respected craft labels joined to conceptualize a winter-ready boot that pays homage to the utility and functionality championed by Scandinavian design, and the tradition of handcraft prevalent in many American legacy brands.

The result is a limited edition, solid black effort dubbed the “Iron Ranger No. 4545,” and  it’s not your grandfather’s biker boot. While the silhouette, modeled after the iconic Iron Ranger” boot, is a classic, the collaborating duo made sure to keep things interesting with the material. They turned to “Black Spitfire,” a heavily-waxed, roughout, reverse suede leather, to add texture and hardwearing longevity to the shoe. Other details include brass eyelets, speed hooks, and of course Vibram soles.

You can purchase yours through select European retailers starting today.
