Heavily inspired by legendary London visual artists Gilbert & George, Jeremy Scott presents his latest vision for Moschino Fall/Winter 2016. Maintaining his fondness for unabashed, over-saturated colors (and over-the-top everything, for that matter), Scott stays in his own lane while faithfully recreating a look from Gilbert & George’s 1993 film The Pictures.
Imitating the way light and shadow fall on the folds of each garment, 2D markings emphasize each silhouette, adding a surreal comic book-like aspect. On the show, Scott himself noted:
“There are so many reasons why Gilbert & George’s work resonates so strongly with me: the saturated colors, the slogans, the provocative nature of so many of their subjects. I feel not only a visual attachment to their art but an emotional bond as well. So it’s an honor to bring their art into my fashion and create a hybrid of the two.”
