“I’m always looking for a new way of saying the same thing.”

This idea of new permutations of sameness, taken from a quote by Japanese-American artist, Isamu Noguchi, is the driving spirit behind Armoire Officielle‘s Fall/Winter 2016 collection.

Contrary to the ease with which they are presented, conceptualizing a fashion line is no walk in the park. One has to consider identity, the current market, and how to offer a customer something new while maintaining the comfort of familiarity — because let’s be honest, people only re-buy what they like.

For the brand, checking all of these boxes came from starting with basic and timeless garments updated with subtle details. For instance, the collection’s abundance of traditional menswear fabrics like merino wool and corduroy follow the path of least resistance, but the addition of new textiles such as water-repellent cotton from famed Italian supplier Loro Piana embody Armoire’s desire to find a balance between “new” and “same.”

If you’re searching for anything outside of time-tested silhouettes, quality construction, and Nordic-inspired simplicity this isn’t for you.
