After previewing the Business of Fashion cover on which Vetements’ Demna Gvasalia appears, we’re now able to take a look at an online transcript containing the interview between BoF‘s Imran Amed and the designer himself.
Expressing dismay at traditional operating systems, Gvasalia, who splits equal time between his upstart label and Balenciaga as its head designer, addresses how he plans to conceive and promote his work counter to industry standards, even at the cost of incurring skepticism from peers.
At the end of the day, his intention is to bridge the gap “between the creative vision and the commercial vision,” meaning that, with Vetements, Gvasalia plans to “[shift] the seasons” so that collections, in addition to aligning with fabric deliveries and the entire production chain, can be thoughtfully curated.

Gvasalia isn’t the only one shaking things up, however. Burberry just announced its new “See Now/Buy Now” system for upcoming collections.
