As the global fashion gaze shifts to New York and Copenhagen for the final leg of the fashion week season, we begin to digest what went down, breaking down which looks were on the up, as well as which brands we think are worth checking out. For WHITE Milano Fall/Winter 2016, we partnered with and curated the tradeshow's "WOW" platform, showing pieces from a choice selection of labels. In our first editorial shoot, photographer Andrea Olivio captured the current trend of oversized, almost baggy silhouettes with the equally strong pull of loud patterns and bold fabrics applied to seemingly classic pieces: a glossy PVC overcoat with stenciled lettering almost from the mind of Tim Burton's costume designers, paired up against terry cloth zippered tops, while bold prints on overcoats, pants or jackets work against earthy, sandy-toned trousers and tops. The overall feel is caught between post-punk dustiness and a kind of '90s high-fashion house extravagance, yet still being contemporary and, importantly for streetwear, completely wearable. WHITE Milano has grown to become an influential and revered Milan Fashion Week mainstay. The fair is located at the core of the Italian city's fashion district on via Tortona 27 and 54, and every year manages to attract a growing international community of designers, buyers and international media.
