I think that we can all agree that we will take any new Kendrick Lamar material however we can get it.
With the surprise release of untitled unmastered, many might be surprised to hear that none other than LeBron James himself might have impacted TDE boss, Anthony Tiffith, into releasing the various performances that Lamar has done which spanned The Late Show, The Tonight Show and the Grammy's.
Prior to the surprise release last night, Tiffith then took to Instagram to announce the album and added a special shout-out to LeBron James. Yea KIng Kendrick returns 2nite.... Make site y'all thank @kingjames ... #TDE A video posted by gwadpot (@dangerookipawaa) on Mar 3, 2016 at 7:49pm PST
Although TDE has always proven to be one of the most savvy record labels around - and probably had this project locked and loaded for months now - perhaps King James's massive social media following really did force them to strike while the iron was hot.
LeBron James may not be able to stop the runaway train that is the Golden State Warriors, but we appreciate his efforts in the musical realm.
ESPN broached the question, asking, "Should James really get credit for Lamar opening up his library or was the timing just a happy coincidence?
"That's what it's been documented, as of now," James said. "Yeah. That's what they said. They said to thank me. So, appreciate it. You're welcome."
