“Put the back side of your phone to work with an e-Reader, smartwatch & battery case all in one,” proclaim the makers of PopSLATE 2, an ultra-thin protective shell that’s designed to use the reverse side of your iPhone to keep you informed at a glance.

Picking up where the original PopSLATE left off, the gizmo gives users quick access to essential information – for example, a flight boarding pass or email notification – on the back of their iPhone. What’s more, it uses e-ink technology, much like Amazon’s Kindle, so it can display information permanently while using much less energy than your average smartphone screen.

The PopSLATE 2 is available to pre-order now and ships in July, priced $79. The device is offered in various models to fit all present-day iPhone varieties. Check it out in action in the pretty cringe-inducing advert above.
