Back in 2014, nightlife in Kiev basically came to a halt due to protests that quickly turned into riots, and the government then opening fire on the protesters. Thus, the country fell into a crisis. The war then triggered a financial fallout that saw many lose their jobs.

One such citizen, Slava Lepsheev, decided he would do something about the current state of affairs, however. He launched Cxema, a hypnotic techno rave that he took to whatever venue would have it. In turn, Ukraine’s underground rave revolution was sparked.

VICE and i-D recently partnered with Slava to get a look at the captivating scene, as they followed him and his crew around, watching them prepare for Cxema and then party until the sun came up.
