This week in Friday Feuds a crunk king takes issue with a Hamptons eatery, and former friends become foes (again). Plus, an enterprising artist's former high school unintentionally enters the spotlight, and a giggling, pot-smoking emcee winds up with legal problems, and more...
Soulja Boy vs. AGoff
Soulja Boy started off Memorial Day by dropping a rather unpleasant surprise on his former artists. The rapper took to Twitter to announce that he was cleaning house at SODMG (Stacks On Deck Money Gang Entertainment), the label he founded in 2004. In addition to causing a few raised eyebrows Soulja's choice sparked a lot of social media jokes about what artists he'd actually signed...
Even if no one had heard of the majority of the artists, the news still didn't sit well with them. Los Angeles-based rapper AGoff in particular seemed to get the s**t end of the stick. In addition to being dropped, Soulja Boy also threatened to end his life...
AGoff apparently didn't take the threat too seriously because he posted a response video involving his own threat to break Soulja Boy's face should he happen to see him...
Fetty Wap vs. Eastside High School
Generally once a person leaves high school they try never to go back -- unless you're a platinum-selling rapper by the name of Fetty Wap. In that case you just shoot your NSFW music video in the halls you received your education...
Unfortunately for Zatiti Moody, the principal of Eastside High School where Fetty once attended classes, there are regulations for shooting videos on school grounds. When the Paterson school district caught wind of the little stunt, which Moody apparently cleared, they placed him on leave while investigating whether the proper policies had been followed...
Fetty eventually addressed the drama...
Fetty WapI went back to my old high school because I love my city. I wanted to show the students of Paterson that someone who walked those same hallways they walk every day and sat in the same classrooms shown in the video has become successful.
Wiz Khalifa vs. Rostrum Records
Wiz Khalifa is finding out about the selfish side of the music industry firsthand, but he's not taking it lying down. The Taylor Gang commander is currently preparing to wage legal war on Rostrum Records, his former label, and Benjy Grinberg, his ex-manager. According to Khalifa, he was duped into a deceptive 10-year, 360-deal that cheated him out of quite a bit of money. He's currently asking for $1 million in compensation...
It should be noted Mac Miller also parted ways with the label...
Lil Wayne vs. Birdman & Cash Money
After Cash Money head honcho Birdman posted an Instagram picture featuring him and his formerly estranged mentee Lil Wayne, everyone thought their vitriolic beef had finally come to an end...
All of that changed over Memorial Day Weekend when Lil Wayne once again unloaded on his former friend while encouraging fans to say "f**k Cash Money," among other things. The two were said to have been trying to come to an agreement regarding the $51 million lawsuit Lil Wayne filed against Birdman. It looks as if peace talks have fallen apart and Wayne is moving forward in the legal department...
Lil Jon vs. Blue & Cream Restaurant
Crunk music's reign may have come to an end but the genre's king, Lil Jon, is letting it be known that you still cannot steal his song lines. His lawyers recently sent a cease and desist letter to Hamptons-based eatery Blue & Cream after the rapper discovered they were selling a flask emblazoned with the infamous line, "Turn Down For What?"
It looks like the restaurant will indeed be turning down, or getting sued.
