McDonald’s Japan is promoting its two new dipping sauces by launching a Willy Wonka-style contest to win an 18-karat gold McNugget.
One lucky person will win the 1.8-ounce golden chunk, reportedly worth about $1,500. Competition entrants have to follow clues on Twitter and around Japan to find the campaign’s mascot, a mysterious nugget thief called Kaito Nuggets, and the bejeweled nugget itself inside a five-piece McNugget pack.
McDonald’s said in a press release:
“He may appear in some of McDonald’s restaurants through the country, may throw out a ceremonial first pitch for a professional baseball game, or pay a visit to a prefectural governor making a surprising request entertaining people.”
McDonald’s will also gift 21 runners-up a five-piece pack of nuggets alongside the two new sauces, “Creamy Cheddar Cheese” and “Fruits Curry Sauce.”
