UNIQLO, the mammoth Japanese retailer, has just announced a quite interesting new appointment to its staff. Christophe Lemaire, a veteran of Lacoste and recent director at luxury brand Hermès, has been announced as the brand’s new artistic director of its Paris R&D Center.

This is not an unprecedented move, as the designer and retailer previously collaborated on a hugely successful collection called simply “Uniqlo and Lemaire.” In addition to this position, Lemaire will also take the lead on a new Uniqlo line called “Uniqlo U.” This collection will be presented next month during Paris Couture Week with a retail release to follow in the fall.

Stay tuned for what this new appointment will produce in the near future.
