What starts as four friendly guys helping James Corden get to work in the carpool lane ends as a hilarious ride filled with nudity, raucous air guitar skills and wrestling on a stranger’s lawn. This is what happens when the legendary punk-funk rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers appear on The Late Late Show With James Cordon skit “Carpool Karaoke.”
It’s not long into the hilarious 15-minute-long clip that Cordon asks if he can play some music. Obviously, the band’s “Can’t Stop” starts blasting from the radio and, despite the song being over 14 years old, they all belt it out as if it was the first and last time they will ever perform it. They also sing along to “Give It Away” and “By the Way,” along with some less predictable tunes like “Food Glorious Food” from Oliver.
“I almost didn’t recognize you when you came up because you had clothes on,” Corden tells frontman Anthony Kiedis later in the drive. After Kiedis explains that it feels more “natural” to bare some skin, he starts removing his socks and shirt. Of course, bassist Flea and Corden happily oblige. See what happens next above.
And if you missed it the first time around, watch Gwen Stefani and Corden pick up George Clooney and Julia Roberts below.
