In April, news broke that Italian-Belgian designer Anthony Vaccarello would be taking the reins as creative director for storied French luxury house, Saint Laurent. With stints at both Fendi and Versus Versace, Vaccarello’s newly-appointed title would follow previous Saint Laurent head honcho Hedi Slimane, who radically turned the house upside down during his four-year tenure.

Today, Saint Laurent previews its first campaign produced under Vaccarello’s creative direction. Shot by Collier Schorr, the spread, which features not one item of clothing, harks back to the designer’s dark color palette and modern aesthetic, as frequently demonstrated in his past work at Versus. Could this hint to a more minimal direction for the brand compared to that of Vaccarello’s predecessor?

The designer is set to debut his first SS17 womenswear collection during Paris Fashion Week in October, with additional imagery planned to surface on Saint Laurent’s website and Instagram account on June 20.
