To celebrate 25 years of the PUMA Disc, we had an argument. Well to be more precise, it was a debate, ending with a fair degree of compromise, to find out which of the many collaborations the PUMA Disc Blaze was our favorite.

We couldn’t settle on one, but we could all agree the original laceless sneaker is a pretty dope piece of footwear. With its multi-layered silhouette, its distinct cage containing the laceless system, and its super comfy Trinomic sole making for one of the smoothest rides in the sneaker landscape, the PUMA Disc Blaze is the definition of a modern classic.

So, from big name partnerships to special one-off drops, here’s our personal picks of everyone’s favorite non-lacing sneaker.

Sole DXB x PUMA Disc Blaze "Asphalt BLK" with White and Gum

These hyper-rare versions of Sole DXB’s "Asphalt BLK" release feature the soft felt upper in jet black, leather cage, cream midsole and a gum outsole. And, let’s face it, gum outsoles make every sneaker look amazing. This special version of the Asphalt BLK release was only available as part of Dubai’s Sole DXB event last November, meaning anyone who owns one knows what’s what.

Trapstar x PUMA Disc Blaze Trinomic "White Noise"

After the success of Trapstar’s first ever shoe collab last year, the label partnered up once again with the brand with the leaping cat on another PUMA Disc Blaze, this time in a slightly eye-melting "white noise" colorway. A nod to the hyper-connected world in which we live, the upper is a perfect recreation of the fuzz you see on a vacant screen and everything, save for the lining and the inner sole, gets daubed in the distinctive static pattern. Pretty sharp if you ask us.

Kasina x PUMA Disc Trinomic Lux

One for the luxe sneaker fans among us, essential Korean retailer Kasina worked PUMA’s shoe into a plush iteration of itself, featuring quilted leather and suede. Dropped in two eye-catching colorways, our personal pick is their louder of the two with the black base and the garden green lining, sole and logo stripes with red accents peppering the special release. Check out Kasina’s video explaining the design concept behind this release.

McQ x PUMA Disc Blaze SS16

One of the more esoteric releases sees PUMA tap British contemporary fashion label McQ, the diffusion line of Alexander McQueen (the eponymous label of the deceased famed British fashion designer), for an extensive collection of experimental footwear. Comprising the Cell Mid, Cell Lo, Tech Runner sandal and Brace Femme Lo, the PUMA Disc Blaze was also among them, fusing retro-futuristic aesthetics with playful colorways and dazzling accents for the SS16 season. A big summer fave from our side.

BAPE x PUMA Disc Blaze FW15

Obviously we couldn’t list our favorites and not have featured this. Two absolute mavericks of streetwear came together for a simple yet highly effective collaboration, draping the distinctive BAPE camo across the unmistakable silhouette of the PUMA Disc Blaze. Plus, the two’s FW15 collection campaign featured non-other than football’s eccentric enfant terrible, Mario Balotelli. I mean… what more is there to say?

In the meantime, check out our illustrated timeline of the PUMA Disc's history.
