Following a stroke earlier this week, the legendary New York Times fashion photographer Bill Cunningham has died at the age of 87. He photographed for the Times for almost 40 years, capturing New York’s ever-changing fashion scene and becoming, himself, a recognizable figure within the city.
In 2010 he was the subject of a documentary, Bill Cunningham New York, which profiled the prolific photographer and featured interviews with the likes of Vogue editor Anna Wintour.
“We have lost a legend, and I am personally heartbroken to have lost a friend,” said The New York Times chairperson, Arthur Sulzberger Jr.
