Where the runway meets the street

Former Saint Laurent designer Hedi Slimane has just won a lawsuit against French luxury goods holding company, Kering. The group, which owns Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga and Gucci, among other high-end labels, is now forced to pay Slimane $13 million over a contract dispute.

Hedi insisted that his former employer did not apply a non-compete clause that was in his contract when he left the company in April. The clause should have been applied, along with associated financial compensation, as revealed by Slimane.

In speaking on the case, the designer’s lawyer, Herve Temime, proclaimed “We won. I’m happy because this its a natural outcome. The contract terms were absolutely clear.”

Not NYC, not LA.
