The NMD_R1 has been one of the most popular sneakers of the year for adidas. In the past month alone, the brand has released such varied iterations of the model as the Primeknit “Japan Boost,” an ultra-limited “Firestarter,” and a City Sock with a Primeknit upper.

Then came the promise of the sneaker’s next evolutionary step: a model dubbed the XR1 that was promised a fall release. We couldn’t wait that long, but neither could adidas, which is why the brand has unveiled an XR1 in “Triple White” that could drop as soon as this month.

Heavily influenced by street style, the NMD XR1 “Triple White” carries a new perforated caging system in its upper, which though is structurally similar to the R1, makes for a marked aesthetic difference. The removed bumper at the front of the shoe is another stylistic hallmark of the NMD, and it remains just as clear with this model.

Given the huge number of colorways that sprung from the R1 releases, we can expect a great deal of variations of the XR1 to come our way through the season. But as far as fresh summer kicks go, could it get fresher than a clean “Triple White?”

Stay tuned for imminent release information on the adidas NMD XR1 “Triple White.”
