Next month Vice will be launching a new nightly news program on HBO. Titled Vice News Tonight, the show will run weeknights for 48 weeks during the year. Former editor of Bloomberg Businessweek and chief content officer for Bloomberg Media, Josh Tyrangiel, has been hired by Vice to oversee the project.
The move comes as Vice launched its own TV channel earlier this year, Viceland, featuring original programs airing 24 hours a day.
The goal for Vice News Tonight is to make news more appealing to young viewers, as Tyrangiel revealed, “We’re going to have to earn people’s time and attention with great reporting and original forms of storytelling.”
The nightly news show was originally announced in March of last yer, as the program is reported to be “on schedule.”
Look for Vice News Tonight to premiere on HBO on September 26 at 7:30 p.m. EST.
