Until July 6 of this year, you wouldn’t really describe Nintendo as a company to watch. But with the release of Pokémon Go on that fateful day, the Japanese gaming giant suddenly entered a full-blown renaissance, the scale of which continues to astound. But it is merely the latest chapter in the company’s incredibly long history, one that dates all the way back to the 19th century.
