Tune in and turn up

Paris-based hip-hop and electronic beat master Onra’s sound has often been described as a “chopped up set of R&B -laden beats and electronically-produced experiments laced with influences spanning the entire globe.” After dropping his first project, Chinoiseries, in 2006, Onra has gone on to master silky R&B and funk sounds on projects like 2010’s Long Distance and 2012’s Deep In The Night, and sonically visited all corners of the globe to build an eclectic sound that mirrors his MPC live performances.

For Session 12 of Highsnobiety Sounds, Onra shares a what he describes as a “vintage new jack swing mix,” highlighting the the golden era of soul and R&B (aka the ’80s and ’90s).

Listen below and be sure to sample Nana Kwabena’s eclectic world mix.
