TIDAL recently released a series of clips highlighting acts from this year's 'Made in America' lineup, the festival curated by Jay Z, and one such act was Lil Yachty, aka Lil Boat aka the amber-haired rapper on everyone's lips right now. In the video, he discusses his focused work ethic ("I don't club, I don't party, I don't drink, I don't smoke... I just record"), love of video games and, more controversially, goes in on "serious rap."
"I hate serious rap," he admits. "It's so boring. Serious rap music puts me to sleep." His comments are bound to rouse the ire of "real hip-hop" evangelists, who already can't stand the warbling, auto-tuned newcomer to the scene.
After flexing a fat stack of 100 dollar bills and executing a perfect slow-mo dab, Yachty also muses on fame and success, his creative process, and his relatability to teens. Check out the video below.
