So what if this year’s two tentpole blockbusters for the DC Comics cinematic universe, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad, currently stand as two of the biggest critical flops of the year? It doesn’t mean that any of the hype behind next year’s Justice League has slowed down at all.
In fact, the internet is currently ablaze from a mere 30-second snippet of footage that Ben Affleck (Batman) tweeted from the movie set currently filming in London. The footage in question? A big, big hint as to who could be the film’s main villain.
Though at first glance it may seem like a discarded scene from an Iron Man sequel, the footage depicts a menacing, metal man who has been identified as Deathstroke. Though not nearly as recognizable as someone like The Joker or The Penguin, Deathstroke is known to comic-nuts as one of the Caped Crusader’s most formidable antagonists.
A supremely vicious mercenary, Deathstroke is perhaps best known in the DC universe as one of the few villains to decidedly defeat Batman in hand-to-hand combat, even more than once. Like the rest of the the details surrounding Justice League, information regarding his role in the film (or even the actor portraying him) are scarce, but expect any of the most minute leaks to hit the web in the near future.
Stay tuned for further release information regarding the upcoming Justice League film.
In other superhero movie news, Netflix has just dropped another trailer for its highly-anticipated original series on comic hero Luke Cage.
