If South Korean label Stereo Vinyls can do anything well, it must be its ability to incorporate even the most disparate of pop culture references into its apparel with seemingly effortless ease. For instance, the brand’s last collection was a collaborative SS16 line made with Coca-Cola, which incorporated decades of the beverage’s advertising iconography over a host of inspired pieces (one of which was an incredible hoodie decked in a print of a close-up view of the soda bubbles). For its new FW16 line, Stereo Vinyls has truly gone all over the place with a collection that highlights everything from the Wu-Tang Clan to the The Simpsons.
The Clan’s iconic album Wu-Tang Forever is paid homage across a spread of T-shirts, long-sleeve shirts and hoodies. The album title and Wu-Tang logo can be seen printed across the front and back of the shirts, while the hoodie sports the full vinyl tracklist of the record in a clean-cut array down the back.
Musical themes continue to be found in pieces like the lightweight jersey with a print of a keyboard and a heavy-duty bomber printed with close-up imagery of an old-school, low-noise cassette tape, both of which were created in collaboration with Berlin-based DJ Peggy Gould. Music aside, some of the most lovable members of The Simpsons family appear on patches stitched to the back of richly colored bombers.
Stereo Vinyls’ FW16 collection is on sale now on the brand’s online store.
