Wavy Women highlights various industry professionals currently leading the game with their brazen creativity and forward-thinking style.
The latest installment of our ongoing Wavy Women series spotlights Italian beauty Chiara Capitani. Born in Cisterna di Latina, the Milan-based image consultant and designer first cut her teeth in fashion in 2011, after creating a collection with local women’s label TOAST.
Since then, Capitani has become something of an #influencer (judging by her 53K Instagram following), running a successful style blog and lending her design chops to popular shoe brand Chiara Ferragni.
We asked Chiara a few questions to find out more about her personal style, what first piqued her interest in fashion, her greatest career achievements and more. Read what she had to say below, then be sure to learn about the Director of VIP Services at VFILES, Rox Brown.
What was the thing that first got you interested in fashion?
I’ve always been obsessed with shoes, ever since I was a child.
What was your first big gig?
Tell us about your day to day.
I start working early in the morning, and I usually eat breakfast at the same time. My days are never the same as the one before; sometimes I work fashion shoots as a stylist, sometimes I do digital content for my client, sometimes I research some inspiration for when I design. I can sometimes spend weeks on my drawings and files without doing anything else.
If you weren’t doing what you are now, where would you work?
I would be a pop star.
Describe your current style.
It’s a mix of vintage pieces, somethings from my boyfriend’s wardrobe, luxury brands and streetwear attire.
Who or what are you currently inspired by?
I’m always inspired by my travels around the world, especially when I’m going to Tokyo where there are all my favorite stores.
What is the greatest accomplishment of your life so far?
Last year I opened my own consulting studio in Milan.
What is your most treasured item of clothing? (also why?)
My Levi’s 501 Big E, which I found at the Pasadena Flea Market. They’re so hard to find without a rip or hole, but mine are quite perfect.
Where do you want to be in the next five years?
Living in my own place with my boyfriend. Working at something I truly believe in and enjoy doing.
Dream collaboration? (with whom and what would you create?)
I would love to work for Prada Sport.
