Tune in and turn up

This summer was awash with plenty of bangers that kept the title for “song of the summer” forever in limbo. But a surefire contender emerged with “Campaign,” an atmospheric, uptempo ditty from Ty Dolla $ign and Future, the result of the duo’s extensive tour together.

With the drop of the single came Ty’s announcement that it would be the title track on a forthcoming “project” that would feature a veritable zoo of collaborators and featured guest spots. Few other details emerged other than his assurance that it would be “lit.” Now, after months of teasing, Campaign has arrived, and it is everything Ty promised (and more).

Campaign is technically being billed as a mixtape, but its 16 tracks are the most expansive and cohesive effort Ty has put out to date. Aside from the previously shared title track with Future (and a remixed version by Kanye-fave Charlie Heat), the mixtape has an embarrassment of riches in its collaborative tracks.

Some of the featured artists that Ty has corralled into the project include Travis Scott, Migos, Wiz Khalifa, Meek Mill and Trey Songz. And maybe it’s just the tongue-in-cheek album art, but this mixtape seems the perfect soundtrack to your misplaced aggression for the impending Presidential election.
