Where form meets function

In the way of appliances, the world has seen an unprecedented level of innovation in the past decade. Now, the newest appliance innovation is pure gold – literally.

Designed by Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan, a Kohler-style toilet made of solid 18-karat-gold has made its debut at the Guggenheim Museum in New York. Titled “America,” the sculpture is fully functional, and has been estimated to be worth anywhere between $1.47 million  and $2.53 million. Fortunately, cleanliness won’t be an issue as the Guggenheim Museum staff has said that the toilet will be cleaned every 15 minutes.

If you’re interested in a majestic experience with this luxurious toilet, be sure to check out “America” at the Guggenheim.
