A$AP Rocky has hit the ‘gram to tease what his take on MTV would look like with a set of retro, cut-up visuals.
The rapper signed a major deal with the network last month, supposedly to grow his own franchises as well as to make MTV as relevant and exciting as it was back in the day.
The reworked clip (down below) includes loads of unseen Rocky footage, including some new colorful and cartoon-style ones of him dancing around with an MTV mic, which may give some inclination as to what he has planned for the near future.
MTV alum Kurt Loder also features in the clip, just before Rocky promises to bring it [MTV] all “back to the music.”
Rocky’s two-year deal with reportedly see him developing new programming and “additional MTV intellectual property,” including new advertising content and more. “I think we need to get people more in tune with vignettes, video clips,” Rocky told Variety of the collaboration. “That’s really going to be my strong suit.”
“It’s time to start exploring the minds of the young, the kids that come from backgrounds like me,” he added, pointing out that 15-to-30-second videos are crucial to capturing the attention of young people. “If you put your mind to it, you can come up with some unorthodox methods to figure this shit out.” Watch the clip below.
