Just when fans had begun to get used to life without Justin Bieber on Instagram, Kendall Jenner has followed suit and mysteriously deleted her account over the weekend.
Fans noticed on Sunday morning that the 20-year-old model’s account had been replaced by the now all-too-familiar “Sorry, this page isn’t available” error message. There had been no real signs it was coming, with Jenner posting just as often with pictures showing the birth of her newborn niece, outings with fellow models Bella Hadid and Karlie Kloss, and posts encouraging her followers to vote.
However, as Complex points out, Kendall has received harsh criticism of her modeling career in recent months. Images she posted from her Vogue Spain spread in which she was dressed up like a prima ballerina were hounded by professional dancers, and presumably anybody else with a passing grudge against her, for not staying in her own lane.
She replied at the time, “With my Vogue Spain shoot, I didn’t even know I was going to be a ballerina until I went into hair and makeup,” she said. “I never said I knew ballet and I didn’t practice beforehand. I just show up to do my job!”
It’s possible that this criticism, combined with the fact that her alleged stalker was found not guilty at a recent trial and that she’s constantly harassed by trolls no matter what she posts, has led to the deactivation. Either way, fans aren’t happy about it:
We’ve also received inklings that Justin Bieber would like to launch his own social media network. At a recent concert in Germany, the star spoke about how he quit Instagram and his desire to create something of his own, perhaps named “Slider.” Does this exodus see the start of the end for mega stars on mainstream social media platforms?
Stay tuned for more information; in the meantime, fans can make do with Kendall’s Twitter account.
