The first trailer for the live-action movie of Hiromu Arakawa's manga series, Fullmetal Alchemist, has finally hit the internet, and it brings it to life in a big way.

A series of clips introduce the world of alchemy to the big screen for the first time, with transmutation circles (a symbol on the ground that can turn everyday items into new materials) and protagonist Edward Elric (played by Ryōsuke Yamada) receiving a lot of the airtime.

Hardcore fans of the series, which was serialized in Shōnen Gangan magazine between August 2001 and June 2010, will be pleased to see the touching clip of Edward and his younger brother Alphonse, in which Ed promises to "get their bodies back." There's also a brief teasing scene that includes a terrifying transmuted beast. We've yet to see any action scenes, but this has boosted excitement levels just nicely. Check it out above.

After you've finished, watch the Ghost in the Shell trailer remade with original anime scenes below.
