The latest in our Meet the Muse series offers double trouble with twin DJs Angel and Dren. Prior to becoming fixtures at industry events across the city, the Bronx-born duo both attended Dartmouth where they studied Portuguese and Spanish. Post-college, they embarked on a musical career that has resulted in partnerships with brands like Nike where they are now the label’s official New York City DJs.

Take a look at the interview below and see our last profile with stylist and designer Lin Xiu Wei.

How has your style changed over the years?

Dren: I think it’s way edgier now than it used to be.

Describe your current style.

Angel: Edgy, sporty, clean and versatile.

If you weren’t doing what you are now, where would you work?

Dren: I don’t even know! I might be living in Brazil.

Dream collaboration?

Both: So many: Riri, Kanye, Disclosure, Anderson .Paak, Kaytranada, Frank Ocean, D.R.A.M, Big Freedia, SZA, Jhene Aiko, Diplo, reggae artists like Kranium, Chronixx, Konshens, Gyptian…the list goes on!

If you weren’t in your current city, where would you live?

Both: Bahia, Brazil- We lived there for a year and speak Portuguese. It’s our home away from home.

Which Emoji best represents you?

Both: ? and  ?

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

Angel: This isn’t quite advice but it’s definitely words to live by: We DJ’d a Nike event with Serena Williams and I’ll never forget the part of her interview when she said, “There’s obviously days I don’t feel like training, but there’s not a day that goes by that I feel like losing.”

Last lesson you learned?

Dren: Back up all of your files, all the time!

How do you relax?

Dren: Sometimes I’ll go on a quick run otherwise I watch Netflix or listen to music.

What in life are you most grateful for?

Angel: Our family and friends are the key!

What is the greatest accomplishment of your life so far?

Dren: DJ’ing in Paris this past fashion week was amazing.

Angel: Working with Nike has also been a dream because they support our music, fitness and fashion goals.

What is something you’ve dreamed of doing for a long time, but haven’t yet?

Angel: I definitely want to DJ more around the world…and I kind of want to get a tattoo.

What could you eat every day and not get tired of?

Angel: Jamaican food and fruit – we grew up in a Caribbean household and there were always fruits around. I’m that girl in the supermarket picking out the best plums for 10 minutes. Our fridge can be empty but we always have fruits at home.
