And the year-end lists continue to roll in. Critics everywhere are finishing their tabulating and starting to present the very best albums of 2016. Rolling Stone recently shared its list, and Pitchfork just shared its list of the best rap offerings of the year. Now, Noisey has shared an extensive tally of the 100 best albums of 2016, which is an ambitious undertaking to say the least.

And in contrast to most of the other year-end best lists, there are some surprises. Here are the picks for the Top 10:
