Over the years, NPR's "Tiny Desk Concert" series has attracted some of the most hallowed figures in the music world to perform in its minuscule office space. And though an intimate session with T-Pain comes close, it feels safe to say that never, not once in its history, has NPR had a concert quite like the one presented by Gucci Mane. Watch it below:
Gucci played three songs, "First Day Out Tha Feds," "Waybach" and "Last Time," with little more than a backing track and a piano. The piano in question was played by his longtime producer Zaytoven, which, hot damn, who knew the man could hit the keys like that? It is hard to describe the strange feeling of seeing Gucci in this room, but NPR put it best by acknowledging his set as "a surreal dip into a parallel universe where ingenuity is rewarded, snobbery is gone and love is real."
Look out for Gucci's new album The Return of East Atlanta Santa to drop this Friday, December 16. Watch the video for "St. Brick Intro" below:
In other music news, Gucci Mane (through a well-timed feature guest spot) found a place on Pitchfork's top 10 songs of 2016. See which song made the cut right here.
