As expected, Tupac will soon officially be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. This is certainly no small feat, however, as the legendary emcee becomes the first solo hip-hop act to be awarded the honor.

The 2017 inductee class also includes Journey, Pearl Jam, Yes, Electric Light Orchestra and Joan Baez, as the 2017 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place on April 7 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Pac joins the likes of hip-hop greats Run DMC, Public Enemy, N.W.A., Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, and The Beastie Boys, who have all also been enshrined as Rock and Roll royalty.

Artists become eligible for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25 years after their first release.

Welcome to the newest #rockhall2017 Induction class. Thanks to @siriusxm and @klipschaudio for your support.
