Who or what are you currently inspired by?

I’m currently inspired by different eras, like at the moment I’m back to buzzing the ’70s. I seem to go around in cycles.

I’m really vibing looking into art of all different cultures and trying to morph it into my playful work somehow, too. I get really inspired when I find quirky “underground” artists that aren’t afraid to break the mould and get excited when I see people that aren’t afraid to seize the day with their own style.

How has your style changed over the years?

Ever changing. I started out more traditional I guess and now I’m completely stuck in my own world. Wonder what’ll come next? Change is the most exciting part for me. If painting is classified as expressing feeling then we never really can predict what’s ahead to come out.

If you weren’t doing what you are now, where would you work?

Probably sitting on the sidewalk, drawing pictures out of pastel and chalk on the ground, with an empty coffee cup.

If you weren’t in your current city, where would you live? (also why?)

I haven’t traveled to nearly enough places on my list to answer this properly. But the person I am, in time at the moment, would leave city life and live on a little island, painting in a hut in Asia or something.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

Probably one of the good ol’ cliche ones like “treat people how you want to be treated.” We rolled our eyes when we were younger when our parents said things like that, but getting older we realize why they’re said in the first place.

Last lesson you learned?

That I’m not as young physically as I used to be and everything catches up with me now (laughs).

Describe your perfect day.

Painting with my dude and closest friends on a tropical island with lots of weed.

How do you relax?

I think I relax after a creative release. Sometimes while painting because I’m not thinking of 50 things at once. Other times I like to try to just sit, close my eyes and think of nothing for a minute or two as well and just breathe.

What in life are you most grateful for?

My strong mother and father.

If you could wake up tomorrow having gained any one quality or ability, what would it be?

Maybe healing powers. That could be really cool. To take away people’s injury or sickness…or even animals! That would be nice too. Oh! Now I’m thinking animorphs, like being able to morph into any creature you want.

What is the quality you value most in friendship?

It’s between honesty, respect and maturity, even after a falling out.

What is the greatest accomplishment of your life so far?

Reaching 26.

What is something you’ve dreamed of doing for a long time, but haven’t yet?

Traveling to the Northern Lights…or maybe a nice tropical or forest retreat for a while with no phone.

What album do you currently have on repeat?

My boyfriend just got me to listen to The Soft Moon’s Self Titled LP and I’m pretty addicted.

What is your most treasured possession? (also why?)

Probably gold jewelry I’ve inherited from my grandparents that passed. One is a 104-year-old piece on a chain. The other is my grandmother from Scotland’s wedding ring. I wear them every day.

Where do you want to be in the next five years?

Happy, healthy and still painting.
