Before Raf Simons made his grand Stateside debut at New York Fashion Week: Men’s, Nico Amarca, our Fashion Editor on the ground in the Big Apple, snapped some exclusive behind-the-scenes pics backstage a few minutes before showtime. Peep all the candid action above then read our roundtable review of the collection

Simons is showing Stateside for the first time in 21 years and is part of his stated desire to be able to live, work and create in a singular location.

“I wanted to live in one place, one city, one house, one building where we work, so my team comes here to work with me,” Simons said in an interview last week at Calvin Klein headquarters in New York.

Early images show us designs like “I Heart NY” knitwear and Chinese takeout-inspired motifs. Runway looks are forthcoming.

Although organizers haven’t come out and stated it publicly, Simons’ presence at New York Fashion week comes as a quasi-savior of sorts.

“I never really thought it over from the point of view that I would possibly be the activator for New York: Men’s or the savior for New York: Men’s,” he said. “But I would be more than happy if I could be a help.”
