The fashion industry seriously loves a game of musical chairs. Another day, another high fashion house announces a resignation.
While the rumor mill has been churning for quite some time, it’s finally official: Riccardo Tisci is leaving his role as Creative Director of Givenchy, after 12 years at the helm of the iconic Parisian house. It’s still unconfirmed whether Tisci is officially decamping to Versace as the recent rumors persist. There’s been a lot of talk about Versace courting Tisci for an undefined role alongside longtime friend and muse, Donatella Versace — possibly for the house’s Versus sub-label.
If the industry whispers have all proved correct so far, it might just be a matter of time until another announcement follows. Stay tuned.
Update, February 9: Industry publication WWD reports that “the ink is dry” on Tisci’s contract with Versace, although the house isn’t expected to make the announcement official until its runway show in Milan on February 24.
