Taschen has released a revised and updated edition of 100 Manga Artists, giving us the lowdown on the latest and the greatest makers and shapers of the manga scene.

Laid out like an an A–Z directory, the book details the superstars — both human and fictional — of what is now a vast global industry that inspires advertisers, filmmakers, creative professionals, millions of avid fans, and not to mention the entire cosplay lifestyle.

100 Manga Artists covers classic maestros like Osamu Tezuka (creator of Astro Boy) and Katsuhiro Otomo (creator of Akira) as well as newcomers such as Hajime Isayama. Each entry includes biographical and bibliographical information, descriptions of main characters, and, of course, plenty of examples of the artists’ finest manga spreads and covers.
